The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power season 3 confirmed by Prime Video

Filming on season 3 beings this Spring.

Prime Video has officially confirmed that Season Three of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is in pre-production and set to begin filming this spring at its new production hub, Shepperton Studios in the UK. Additionally, three directors have been announced for the upcoming season—two returning and one new. Charlotte Brändström, Sanaa Hamri, and Stefan Schwartz will each direct multiple episodes.

The globally successful series has drawn over 170 million viewers worldwide and remains one of Amazon’s most significant drivers of new Prime membership sign-ups.

Charlotte Brändström, who previously served as co-executive producer and directed multiple episodes across Seasons One and Two, returns as executive producer and director for Season Three. Sanaa Hamri, who directed several episodes in Season Two, will also be back, while seasoned director Stefan Schwartz joins the series for the first time.

Brändström’s impressive directing portfolio includes Shōgun (FX), Scarpetta (Prime Video), The Outsider (HBO), The Witcher (Netflix), and The Man in the High Castle (Prime Video). Hamri, an acclaimed director known for The Wheel of Time (Prime Video) and Empire (Fox), continues her collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios through an overall deal and recently directed the pilot for The Bondsman (Prime Video). Schwartz, whose work includes The Boys (Prime Video), The Walking Dead (AMC), Luther (BBC), and The Americans (FX), brings his expertise to the acclaimed series.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has been a monumental success, with a passionate and engaged global fan base. The series has been lauded for its epic scale and high production value, with Seasons One and Two both earning Certified Fresh status on Rotten Tomatoes. Season One remains the biggest TV premiere in Prime Video history, while Season Two holds the record for the most-watched returning season by total viewing hours.
