This year is particularly special for market boss Allan, who is set to retire and is eager to make this his best market yet. Vendors from 30 countries join local artisans to create a vibrant array of offerings, from handmade trinkets and religious artefacts to the famous pancakes that draw queues around the block.
However, not everyone is thrilled about this year’s Dickensian theme, which requires stallholders to don period costumes. Despite some initial reluctance, the theme adds an extra layer of charm to the experience, as over a million visitors flock to the market to hunt for unique gifts, savor the delicious food, and immerse themselves in the magical Christmas atmosphere.
