With the new Bridget Jones film out now, fans will be pleased to know the other Bridget Jones films are on tv this weekend.
Bridget Jones: Mad About A Boy is out now and if you’re hoping to catch the earlier films before you go and see it, you’re in luck – Channel 5 is showing them this weekend.
Starting tonight (Friday), Channel 5 will show the original Bridget Jones film at 10pm. Bridget Jones (Renée Zellweger) is a 32-year-old, single, and somewhat insecure woman living in London. Determined to take control of her chaotic life, she starts a diary to track her resolutions—losing weight, cutting back on drinking, and finding the right man.

Bridget finds herself caught between two love interests: her charming but womanizing boss, Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant), and the reserved but seemingly aloof Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), whom she initially dislikes. As she embarks on a flirtatious affair with Daniel, she soon discovers he is unfaithful. Heartbroken, she quits her job and starts over, eventually realizing that Mark, despite his awkwardness, is genuinely kind and has feelings for her.
Through humorous misadventures, embarrassing public moments, and personal growth, Bridget learns to embrace her imperfections and finds happiness in being herself. The film ends on a romantic note as she and Mark share a heartfelt kiss in the snow, proving that love can come in unexpected ways.
Tomorrow (Saturday), Channel 5 will air the second film in the franchise, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. In Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, Bridget (Renée Zellweger) is finally in a happy relationship with the dashing but serious Mark Darcy (Colin Firth). However, her insecurities and wild imagination quickly lead to trouble. She starts doubting their relationship, worrying that she isn’t good enough for him—especially when his beautiful, intelligent colleague Rebecca (Jacinda Barrett) seems to be a little too friendly.
As Bridget’s paranoia and clumsiness create rifts between her and Mark, she also finds herself once again entangled with her flirtatious ex-boss Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant), now a TV travel presenter. A disastrous work assignment sends her on a trip to Thailand, where she and her best friend Shazza get caught up in an embarrassing drug-smuggling scandal. Bridget ends up in a Thai prison, relying on Mark to come to her rescue.

After her release, she finally realizes just how much Mark truly loves her—flaws and all. The film ends with Mark proposing, but in true Bridget fashion, she almost ruins the moment before ultimately accepting.
And you’ve guessed it, on Sunday night, Channel 5 will show the third film the series, Bridget Jones’ Baby. In Bridget Jones’s Baby, Bridget (Renée Zellweger) is now in her forties, single again after breaking up with Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), and focused on her career as a successful TV producer. Determined to enjoy life, she decides to embrace being single and have fun.
During a wild weekend at a music festival, she has a one-night stand with a charming American billionaire, Jack Qwant (Patrick Dempsey). Shortly afterward, she reconnects with Mark and spends the night with him, unaware that he is going through a divorce.
Things take a surprising turn when Bridget discovers she is pregnant—but she has no idea who the father is. With both Jack and Mark stepping up to support her, an amusing and awkward competition unfolds as they each try to prove they would be the best father and partner. Meanwhile, Bridget struggles to navigate her pregnancy, work, and the emotional rollercoaster of choosing between two men.
In the end, after much chaos and hilarity, Bridget realizes her true feelings for Mark. At the hospital, Mark is revealed as the baby’s father, and the film concludes with their wedding and the arrival of their son, William.
If you can’t wait that long to see them, fans with a subscription to Sky Cinema via Sky TV or NOW can stream the films on demand.
