Watch the Grant Mitchell actor this Monday 17 February on iPlayer
Ross Kemp invites children to get cozy as he reads a special CBeebies Bedtime Story from the iconic EastEnders café, marking the show’s 40th anniversary.
In this heartwarming episode, Ross brings to life The Squirrels Who Squabbled by Rachel Bright and Jim Field—a hilarious and touching rhyming tale about friendship and sharing. The story follows two very different squirrels who struggle to get along, teaching young viewers an important lesson about empathy and perspective.

Cyril and Bruce, two greedy squirrels, both have their eyes on the very last nut of the season. As the nut bounces through the forest, they chase after it—jumping between trees, scrambling over boulders, splashing through rivers, and teetering on the edge of a waterfall. In the end, they realize that the only way to save themselves is by working together.
Reflecting on the story, Ross Kemp shares: “Cyril and Bruce learned that working together is not only easier but much more fun than fighting. We all have disagreements sometimes—even brothers can squabble.”
With its playful message about cooperation and friendship, this charming tale is a perfect fit for Ross Kemp as he settles into the iconic yellow CBeebies Bedtime Story chair. In celebration of EastEnders’ 40th anniversary, he brings a nostalgic touch by revisiting his role as Grant Mitchell, making this special bedtime story even more memorable.
