I’m A celebrity and Walk the Line struggle as Strictly maintains ratings high

itv suffered low ratings last night, as the BBC continued to dominate with Strictly Come Dancing.

The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! final disappointed with only 6.5million tuning in. That’s less than the number who watched the final of The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4, and way below the 11million that have watched in previous years.

Impressively, Channel 4 weren’t far behind with coverage of the F1 Finale, broadcast in collaboration with Sky. A peak of 5.5million tuned in for the event.

Simon Cowell’s new entertainment show only managed 3million for itv at 8pm. The new singing competition met a luke-warm reception on social media, with many viewers calling it “outdated” and “confusing”. Walk The Line continues nightly until Saturday, and itv will be hoping the ratings pick up by then. Billed as a replacement for The X Factor, the ratings are way off other popular entertainment formats like The Masked Singer UK.

According to official sources, the most-watched programme of the night was the Prime Minister’s broadcast on the covid-19 situation, which aired across the channels at 8pm. More than 12.6million tuned in.

Strictly Come Dancing wasn’t too far behind with almost 10 million watching the semi-final.
