The BBC have confirmed the launch details for new weekday show Morning Live.
The show will debut on the channel on Monday 26 October, running 9.15am – 10.00am. The series will run for 40 episodes initially and if popular, it is expected that the channel will air the series all year round and increase the length, pitting the show directly against itv’s This Morning.
Hosted by Kym Marsh and Gethin Jones, the new morning programme will put audiences at the heart of the conversation, with great company and expert advice from a team of presenters who will guide viewers through the mornings up until Christmas.
Each day the hosts Kym Marsh (Your Money And Your Life) and Gethin Jones (The One Show) will be joined by a familiar face from the BBC Daytime and Early Peak presenting family including Dr Xand van Tulleken (HealthCheck UK Live), Rav Wilding (Crimewatch Roadshow), Anna Haugh (Ready Steady Cook), Will Kirk (The Repair Shop) and Sabrina Grant (BBC Two’s forthcoming new afternoon format Saved and Remade – w/t). All come with a wealth of expertise, which will be reflected in that day’s show.
The programme will be a lively and entertaining mix of topical content and expert advice. It will air after BBC Breakfast at 9:15am on BBC One and is perfectly placed to reflect and respond to viewers concerns at the start of the day, with The One Show closing the day on BBC One in the evening.
The mix of content aims to both entertain and inform viewers, providing great company and the kind of trusted expertise viewers have come to expect from BBC Daytime’s popular factual and flagship series in the 09.15am slot. It joins favourites in the schedule such as Crimewatch Roadshow Live and Rip Off Britain and most recently HealthCheck UK Live, Your Money And Your Life and For Love Or Money.
Kym Marsh says: “I’ve always enjoyed morning TV, it’s a great way to start the day (with a cuppa in hand of course). I love nothing more than a good catch up, although this will be on a slightly different scale, more of a daily conversation with our lovely viewers. I think variety is key so I’m really excited to work with Gethin and our fantastic guest presenters to bring the latest in lifestyle, health and consumer concerns.”
Gethin Jones says: “A presenting role on a morning show like this is a bit of a dream for me. What I’m most excited about is the opportunity to delve in to some of the biggest issues at the heart of our everyday lives right now. My parents have been shielding and my sister works in a hospital so, as is the case for lots of people, this year has been such a worry. For me, this show couldn’t come at a better time. I’m looking forward to working alongside Kym to bring viewers across the UK a much needed boost and of course the important information they need.”
Morning Live will be available to stream on demand via BBC iPlayer.
