Radio 1 is going head to head with Global’s new station Capital Dance today, as the station prepares to launch Radio 1 Dance.
Described as a “twenty four hour dance stream”, Radio 1 Dance will serve as a standalone channel, available exclusively via BBC Sounds. It launches tonight, with Radio 1’s usual dance output from 6pm, which includes shows from Danny Howard, Annie Mac and Pete Tong. The stream will then air back to back dance music, with repeats of the station’s specialist dance shows.
Ahead of the Radio 1 Dance launch, Radio 1 is playing nothing but dance tunes all day today. It means the station is going head to head with Capital Dance, which launched with former Radio 1 DJ Mistajam last Thursday.
