Channel 5’s brand new reboot of All Creatures Great and Small is nearing the end of its first series and fans will be wondering if they’ll be able to get their fix this winter with a Christmas special.

The gentle drama centres around a  trio of veterinary surgeons working in the Yorkshire Dales. The remake of the classic series comes in the 50th anniversary year of the James Herriot novels first being published. The six part series got off to a great start, winning 3.3million viewers for the first episode and fans have been loving it since.

All Creatures Great and Small stars Nicholas Ralph as James Herriot, along with Samuel West, Callum Woodhouse, Anna Madeley and Rachel Shenton. The late Diana Rigg, Nigel Havers and Harry Potter star Matthew Lewis will all guest star.

The good news is there WILL be an All Creatures Great and Small Christmas Special and actor Nicholas Ralph has told The Version the Dale’s will be white. “You can expect some baby animals being born too” he said.

Channel 5 are yet to confirm exactly what date it will air but it’s highly likely it will be on either Christmas Day or Boxing Day given its popularity. There will also be a second series next year.

All Creatures Great and Small will also air on Masterpiece in America from January.
