Filming has wrapped on Channel 5’s next big drama, The Drowning.
The series stars Jill Halfpenny as Jodie, a mother still recovering from the loss of her son who went missing eight years ago. When she encounters Daniel (Cody Molko), she is convinced he is her son. Whether he is or not, her fixation with him starts to destory the life she’s painstakingly rebuilt, as it leads her down a dangerous path.
Jodie’s only son Jason (Jonas Armstrong) provides a shoulder for her to cry on, whilst her relationships with Daniel’s Father Mark (Rupert Penry-Jones) and her mother (Deborah Finlay) become more strained than ever.
Filming has been taking place in Dublin, overseen by Jason Mazra – Producer and Co-CEO of Unstoppable, the Production Company he runs with actor Noel Clarke.
For part series The Drowning follows other smash hit dramas on the channel including Penance and The Deceived, and will lead a raft of new dramas airing on Channel 5 in 2021. It will stream via My5.
