When Channel 5 announced it had finally axed Big Brother on Friday, speculation began surrounding the future of the show.

Both Channel 4 and Sky One were quick to rule themselves out of taking on the show, but new reports today claim itv want to take it for themselves.

According to The Sunday Times, ITV are among a number of broadcasters all in the running to snap up the firm, which also makes The Fall, MasterChef and Peaky Blinders.

An Industry insider told The Sun An industry insider said: “Celebrity Big Brother is a hugely popular format and a massive brand that attracts millions of absolutely dedicated and importantly, young fans.

“That makes it extremely valuable when it comes to advertising.

“And there is no way another channel won’t snap it up and bring it back, probably as early as next year.

“Channel Five getting rid of it is a massive gamble. It’s still their most popular show, so it may be a decision they live to regret.”

Meanwhile fans of the long running show have taken to Twitter to say they hope to see BB on itv2.
