Big Brother’s fate confirmed by ITV

ITV has confirmed that Big Brother (produced by Initial, part of Banijay UK) will return for a third season in 2025, following the second season of Celebrity Big Brother, which is set to premiere in spring. This return will mark the 25th anniversary of Big Brother in the UK.

The current season of Big Brother wraps up tomorrow night (November 15) with a live final, where viewers will choose this season’s winner, who will take home a substantial cash prize. This season has been a major hit on social media, sparking widespread conversation online.

In spring 2025, the next season of Celebrity Big Brother will air across ITV1, STV, ITVX, and STV Player, bringing another group of well-known personalities to the iconic house. Following that, Big Brother’s third season will return on ITV2 and ITVX.

Applications for the upcoming season of Big Brother are now open. Those interested in joining the “original social experiment” can apply at BigBrother.com.

The global sensation made its UK comeback in 2023 on ITV and ITVX, where Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother, alongside the popular Live Stream and Late & Live companion show, have collectively been streamed an impressive 96 million times on ITVX.

Paul Mortimer, ITV’s Director of Reality Commissioning and Acquisitions, remarked, “Big Brother has become a staple across ITV platforms and a favorite with audiences. Together, Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother have grown viewership on ITV1 and ITV2, amassing nearly 100 million streams on ITVX. We’re thrilled to reopen the doors for more unforgettable moments in 2025.”

Katy Manley, Managing Director of Initial, added, “We’re thrilled to bring back both Celebrity Big Brother and Big Brother. Both series have resonated strongly with viewers, and we’re excited to create even more. Fans can expect Big Brother to keep both celebrity and civilian housemates on their toes once again.”
